JOHN MINER

A fine art screen printer and Los Angeles native, John has been screen printing since the age of 15. He cut his teeth as a designer and artist in the Los Angeles Punk and underground Rock scene. While still in his teens, he started designing and printing concert posters for LA Punk bands such as X, The Germs, Bikini Kill, The Skulls, and Social Distortion. He was Master Printer from 1998 to 2007 at famed LA print studio Modern Multiples, under the direction of the Late Richard Duardo. This is where John says he obtained his fine art education working with a vast array of artists like Shepard Fairey, John Van Hammersveld, Frank Romero, Retna and many others. He has no formal training otherwise, he is completely self taught by the world around him. His fine art work reflects a variety of influences, but always carries underlying roots in Pop Art and Punk Rock graphics. His work can bounce around from the conceptual side of art to straight, "just for fun" Pop Art.

John produces limited editions on paper as well as one of a kind works on found surfaces, sourced from the streets, or last weeks garage sales. John has been showing art in the LA area since 1997 and has been featured in numerous group exhibitions and solo shows (London, Detroit, LA). He is currently working with Serio Press of Los Angeles, creating high quality, fine art screen prints for some of the worlds most notable artists. He also is an instructor of screen printing at Pasadena City College, (GRFX Department). He has consistently held this position for eight years, teaching a new generation how to make art with the process.
